The Collegetown and Gown Tour
The Collegetown and Gown Tour introduces college counselors to Baltimore area institutions, showcases Baltimore City and County as top college destinations, and supports counselors as they advise their students. This tour is the only program of its kind that features both public and private Maryland institutions.

History
Attracting college students to our campuses fuels the economic engine for Greater Baltimore and is the core of Baltimore Collegetown’s mission. The Collegetown and Gown Tour provides high school counselors with an important introduction to Baltimore and to our area colleges, providing an invaluable connection to prospective students. The variety of participating schools offers guests an insight into the incredible diversity of the region and the higher education options it has to offer.
Since its launch in 2017, the Tour has welcomed 658 counselors from 37 states, the British Virgin Islands, England, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Nepal, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, and Thailand. Tour participants have inspired thousands of applications and enrollments, resulting in over $251 million in Gross Financial Impact, thus proving just how valuable and critical of a program the Tour is to our region.
Schedule
The Collegetown and Gown Tour will take place in Baltimore, Maryland from Monday, November 18 - Thursday, November 21, 2024 and will feature 9 campuses. We expect all participants to be present from start to finish and ask that you make travel arrangements to arrive in Baltimore before 10:30 a.m. on Monday and depart Baltimore after 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

What does each campus visit look like?
Each campus is different, meaning each campus visit will be different, but counselors can expect an informative, interactive experience that highlights each campus' unique identity as well as the many elements of the region that make Baltimore a great college town. One guarantee is you will definitely get your steps in! While some campuses are bigger than others, each campus visit will include a walking tour so please be prepared to walk…a lot. Each campus will also provide a meal (breakfast, lunch, or dinner). Please let us know in advance should you require any accommodations.

How long is the Collegetown and Gown Tour?
The tour will feature 9 campuses over a period of four days (Monday*-Thursday). We expect all participants to be present from start to finish and ask that you make travel arrangements to arrive in Baltimore before 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 18 and depart Baltimore after 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 21.
*For those who plan to arrive on Sunday, we will also be offering an optional tour of Baltimore to learn more about its history and incredible opportunities in the region.

Is lodging provided?
Yes. Counselors will stay at the Hyatt Place Baltimore/Inner Harbor (511 S. Central Ave, Baltimore, MD 21202) in a single-occupancy room Monday-Wednesday nights at no cost to them. Sunday and Thursday night accommodations can be made upon request for counselors traveling from outside the region.

Do I have to stay for the whole 4 days?
Yes! Our admissions partners work hard to prepare an amazing visit experience for you and coordinate logistics with students, faculty, and staff to showcase their campus. We ask that you book travel to be present for the duration of the tour.

How does transportation work?
Guests are responsible for providing transportation to and from Baltimore. Taxis and ride-sharing services are available from Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) and Baltimore’s Penn Station at a nominal fee. Participants are expected to visit all campuses and stay for the entire duration of the tour; please make your travel arrangements accordingly. Collegetown will provide transportation from the hotel to each campus visit throughout the course of the tour.

What should I bring?
Dress casually and bring comfortable shoes! The weather in Maryland can be fickle, so it's best to dress in layers. Please also bring your energy and questions!

How much is it to participate?
A $75 registration fee is required to hold your spot.

Can I pick and choose which campuses to visit? Or can my colleague and I share the registration fee and split up the schools on the tour?
No. Your registration is intended for you alone and we expect all attendees to participate in all 9 campus visits.

How do I sign up?
If you're interested in joining us in Baltimore this fall, please fill out the interest form to be added to the interest list. A select group will be invited to register this summer. We typically have a group of 35-40 participants.
